Relatives of House (ROH) are an incredibly talented DJ duo that are consistently making their mark in the South African music industry. The two DJs and Producers, Sibonelo Mayaba (Mr. Nine11) and Khaya Nkasa (The SpakZin) met in 2014 when Nine11 moved from Ermelo in Mpumalanga to Alberton, Gauteng. A short while after meeting and hitting it off as friends, the two realized they had interests which seemed to align organically – subsequently, they became the core creative of R.O.H music group.
Like some of the great artist stories, Sibonelo and Khaya met through a mutual friend when Sibonelo moved from his hometown in Mpumalanga, which is when the two decided to team up and work together. Their musical journey advanced when they graduated from Boston Media House in 2017, at which point they had started DJ’ing and producing their own music. Relatives of House was effectively
established in 2018, and their unique style is exemplified and epitomized by their afro tech, dance and deep tech house music.
The artists have shared the stage with some well-known names in South African house music, including DJ Chrostos, DJ Mbuso, DJ Clock, Infinite Boys & Andyboi, Harrison Crump , Afrikan Roots, DJ Fortee, Bobsta, Lebza The Villain, Vanessa Jackson, Viwe The Don, and Zulu Naja just to name a few. R.O.H also competed and won at Metro FM’s The Plug competition for upcoming DJs where they submitted an unrelenting mix whose glory could not be denied.
In 2019 the duo decided to develop their own recording label and events company, Relatives Entertainment as independent artists. They plan to sign upcoming artists in the future as they gain industry experience. Relatives of House released their debut single Uthando Lwami in April featuring Infinite Boys and Andyboi – they are currently working on an EP titled Dance Some More which will drop in 2021. You can also check out their second single titled Surrender, which was released on
October 30th.
